Changes to the 7th CPC Pay Matrix's minimum qualifying service period for promotions
The government has agreed to change the requirements for minimum service eligibility for promotion.
The minimum eligible service requirements for promotions, as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix and Pay Levels, will be revised.
Additionally, it asked all Ministries and Departments to alter the Recruitment Rules and Service Rules as needed after following the proper procedure.
According to the updated rules, 3 years of qualifying service is required before being promoted from Level 1 to Level 2 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
The minimum required service for advancement from Level 6 to Level 11 is 12 years.
Why the minimum qualifying service requirement was altered
All Ministries and Departments were urged to change the Service Rules by the DoPT's O.M. from September 8, 2016.
