National Cinema Day: On September 23, multiplexes report sold-out performances
On September 23, National Cinema Day, many multiplexes in India reported sold-out performances in advance.
This might break the 2022 attendance record for movies.
The Multiplex Authority of India (MAI) has 4000 screens and is selling movie tickets for little Rs 75.
Friday's National Cinema Day celebrations are anticipated to draw a record number of moviegoers to the theatres.
"The reaction to the pre-sales has been unparalleled," the MAI said in a statement.
PVR, INOX, Wave, M2K, and Delite multiplexes have all agreed to take part in the festivities.
Cinemas recorded sold-out performances in anticipation of "National Cinema Day," according to the tweet from MAI.
